Dr. Perlmutter will begin your Invisalign treatment by taking impressions and detailed photos of your teeth and bite at our Oradell office. Align Technology then creates a treatment plan using individual aligners to move the patient’s teeth and achieve the results as prescribed by Dr Perlmutter.
When your aligners are ready, you will begin your treatment. Dr. Perlmutter will create space where needed, and attachments will be bonded to your teeth if necessary. The attachments will be made of a resin that will closely match the shade of your teeth so that they are almost invisible. You will receive a set of aligners for every two weeks of your treatment period, and you will be expected to change them every two weeks or as directed by Dr. Perlmutter. They will be labeled clearly with the date on which you will wear them. With each set of aligners, your teeth will shift gradually until the end of your treatment course. At this point, your teeth will have reached the desired positions.
The number of aligners necessary to complete your treatment is based on your individual case at the beginning of your treatment. This will be determined by your initial digital Invisalign scan. During your treatment program, it is recommended that you wear your aligners at all times except when eating.
When your Invisalign treatment is complete, your attachments will be removed and impressions will be taken for your retainers to ensure the longevity of your treatment. Patients often continue to wear retainers at night for the rest of their lives. When your retainers begin to experience wear and tear, Oradell Family Dental can order replacements.
