At What Age Can My Child Get Invisalign?

Invisalign for Kids

Invisalign® is a removable orthodontic option. Initially created for adults, benefits offered by Invisalign include:

  • No dietary restrictions
  • No difficulties caring for teeth
  • No wires or brackets (no risk of cuts)

Invisalign are made of a clear plastic that is both comfortable and sturdy, allowing each aligner to gently move teeth into their ideal position over the course of 12 to 18 months.

Invisalign® For Kids

Traditional orthodontic options like braces are often placed between the ages of eight and fourteen. Most children have a full set of adult teeth by twelve or thirteen, but waiting until all permanent teeth have erupted is not necessary for braces.

Invisalign Teen is designed for kids with full permanent dentition and is usually offered after age thirteen. However, if your child’s teeth have erupted earlier or if it is deemed necessary by your dentist, it may be okay to undergo this treatment at an earlier age.

Invisalign First

Invisalign First is a new option that has been designed for children ages six through ten. Invisalign First acts as phase one of your child’s orthodontic treatment. Each aligner will be crafted to address your child’s unique concerns and assist in proper tooth and jaw development. While not a complete treatment in and of itself, Invisalign Kids can help prevent serious issues from developing while laying a solid foundation for more progressive orthodontic treatment as your child ages.
