Porcelain veneers are resistant to staining. This allows veneers to maintain their bright and attractive appearance for several years. When porcelain veneers stain, however, they will need to be replaced in order to restore an attractive appearance.
Like all dental restorations, porcelain cannot be whitened. Teeth adjacent to veneers can be lightend with topical treatments, but dingy or stained veneers will need to be replaced individually to maintain consistent results.
Keeping Veneers White
Tooth whitening aside, there are several ways you can work to keep your veneers bright and attractive for years to come. Among the most effective are:
Using a nonabrasive toothpaste to brush your teeth after every meal and snack
Flossing at least once daily
Reducing your intake of dark foods and beverages
Reducing your intake of sugary and highly carbonated beverages
Visiting our office every six months for professional cleanings
When you come to our Oradell office for cleanings, we will examine the condition of your veneers and make recommendations for replacement as needed.
Porcelain veneers are a strong, reliable, and long-lasting solution for teeth that are cosmetically flawed. During your next appointment, Dr. Perlmutter will be happy to discuss veneers in more detail to help you determine if they are right for you.
