Does Invisalign Hurt?

Wearing an Invisalign aligner in BergenfieldTraditional metal braces are quite good at adjusting your bite and jaw alignment, but they are also exceptionally uncomfortable. They poke and prod your gums and teeth, and they require frequent, unpleasant tightening appointments. A desire to avoid this discomfort drives many of our Bergenfield-area patients to Invisalign®.

Invisalign® offers a number of advantages over traditional metal braces. But for many patients, the most important advantage is this: Invisalign® doesn’t hurt.

Your clear aligners will be made from smooth plastic and won’t have any sharp metal pieces. And they will be custom crafted for your specific needs, which means they will fit snugly over your teeth. No need to worry about them making you uncomfortable while wearing them.

What about check-ups? With Invisalign®, there’s no need for unpleasant tightening appointments. You’ll wear your aligners for a few weeks, then come to our office and replace them with a new set that  will be designed to subtly shift your teeth a little bit further in the right direction. For the first few days after wearing a new aligner, your teeth will feel sore because the aligner is moving your teeth. Most patients feel fine after taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.

Finally, removing – and applying – your aligners is a snap. You just slide the aligners over your teeth, then slide them off at meal times. No hassle, no pain.

If the idea of inconspicuous orthodontic adjustment appeals to you and you live in or around Bergenfield, New Jersey, Invisalign® might be the right choice for you. Please call Oradell Family Dental today at 201-384-9292 to arrange a consultation and examination.
