Is sugar-free soda better for teeth than sugar-filled alternatives? Not according to a new study that closely examined the impact 23 different types of drinks had on enamel erosion. According to the study’s authors, there is “no discernible difference” between the damage done to teeth from sugary and sugar-free drinks – with the exception of milk.
Does this mean that you cannot enjoy sugar-free drinks on occasion? Of course not. But care should be taken to reduce your intake of acidic beverages and to properly clean your teeth after their consumption.
