Your appointment starts with our dental hygienist, who updates your medical history and records any changes in your health. Next, the hygienist will take checkup X-rays. Dental X-rays are important because they can uncover oral health concerns that are invisible to the naked eye, such as decay. Some appointments may include periodontal probing, which is a procedure where we examine your gums for disease by measuring the depth of your gum tissue with a probe. A periodontal probe can assess the development of these pockets and allow Dr. Perlmutter to make further care recommendations.
