Our Oradell area cosmetic dentist Dr. Howard Perlmutter often recommends porcelain veneers as an ideal treatment option to correct:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Gapped teeth

Porcelain Veneer Options

Dr. Perlmutter feels that the choice of dental lab is crucial to the ability to deliver aesthetically pleasing and structurally reliable results. He has chosen to work with certain labs because over the years, they have consistently provided excellent aesthetic results.

How We Make Our Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are made from an impression of your prepared teeth. Oradell cosmetic dentist Dr. Howard Perlmutter will first remove a very thin portion of your tooth enamel, about one eighth of an inch, and then take an impression of your teeth. He sends the impression to a specialized lab where your dental veneers are crafted out of porcelain.

Dr. Perlmutter will design your dental veneers based on your conversations together. He can adjust the size, shape, and color of your dental veneers to create a smile you will be proud of. Dr. Perlmutter has undergone specialized training, and he has the skills to design dental veneers which, once applied, are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth

Your Porcelain Veneers Procedure

You will require two office visits to complete the porcelain veneer procedure. On your first visit, Dr. Perlmutter will prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface. He will then take an impression of your teeth to be sent to the dental lab. The lab will use this impression to construct your porcelain veneers.

Once Dr. Perlmutter has received your veneers back from the lab, you will return to his office for bonding. Before permanently bonding your porcelain veneers to your teeth, Dr. Perlmutter will examine the fit and color, adjusting as needed to match your surrounding teeth. A bonding agent will be applied to your porcelain veneers, and Dr. Perlmutter will attach them to the surface of your teeth. A special light will activate the bonding agent, causing it to harden.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers offer you several important benefits over other restorations:

  • Highly resistant to stains
  • Gum tissue tolerates porcelain well
  • The color of your porcelain veneers can be adjusted to match your surrounding teeth
  • Porcelain veneers offer a more conservative approach to altering the size and shape of your teeth than other restorations such as tooth crowns
  • Durability

The skill of your cosmetic dentist is crucial to the success of your procedure. Dr. Perlmutter has been performing porcelain veneer procedures for well over two decades. His experience and sense of artistry ensure that you will receive exquisite results.
